ORANJESTAD (AAN) – Jalken Antonia, founder of Stichting JA IK Aruba, says the organization continues working to strengthen families and support youth development across Aruba through various educational and empowerment programs.
The foundation focuses on inspiring personal growth, emotional development, social empowerment, and employment readiness among young people in the community.
During a recent interview with DIARIO, Antonia explained that Stichting JA IK Aruba collaborates with organizations including Oranje Fonds, Stichting Kinderpostzegels, CEDE Aruba, DAS, and DPL to provide opportunities and guidance for participants.
A new curriculum involving 40 participants began in February, and according to Antonia, nearly 70 percent of participants have already shown noticeable changes in mindset and behavior.
He stated that participants are thinking more critically, reacting differently, and developing stronger personal awareness through the program. Two young participants have already successfully entered the labor market.
The first phase of the initiative includes training sessions held three times per week focused on personal leadership, workplace ethics, and career preparation.
The program’s goal is not only to help young people find jobs but also to help them maintain stable employment.
Participants are also visiting various companies across Aruba to observe real workplace environments and better connect classroom theory with practical experience.
According to Antonia, feedback from the participants has been overwhelmingly positive, with many realizing they needed this type of guidance much earlier in life.
He emphasized that the program helps guide young people step by step toward achieving their personal and professional goals.
