ORANJESTAD (AAN) – Aruba’s Fire Department has expanded its emergency response capabilities after 40 firefighters successfully completed certification to operate the department’s modern ladder truck.
The certificates were presented during a ceremony at the Brandweer barracks in Tanki Flip, attended by Minister of Justice, Integration, Public Transport and Energy Arthur Dowers.
During the event, Garage Cordia Aruba also officially handed over the keys to a new Toyota Hiace Commuter van, which will strengthen the daily operational capacity of the Aruba Fire Department. Minister Dowers formally presented the vehicle to Fire Chief Jair Tromp.
The ladder truck training program concluded with both practical and theoretical examinations. Fire Chief Tromp expressed satisfaction that the department now has a large team of certified operators capable of safely using the advanced emergency vehicle.
Minister Dowers said continued investment in firefighter training is essential alongside the modernization of the department’s fleet and equipment. He noted that proper training improves emergency response, enhances public safety and helps ensure specialized equipment is used efficiently and responsibly.
The addition of the new vehicle and the certification of firefighters further strengthen the Aruba Fire Department’s ability to provide fast, safe and professional emergency services to the community.
