FCVR Shelter Services Suspended Due to Repairs, according to social worker Rish Ann Ammerlaan of the Fundacion Contra Violencia Relacional (FCVR), creating concerns as domestic violence cases continue to affect families across Aruba.

During an interview, Ammerlaan explained that the foundation is currently unable to provide shelter accommodations because the existing facility no longer meets the standards required to offer safe and quality services to clients.

She noted that FCVR Shelter Services Suspended Due to Repairs comes at a challenging time, as the organization continues to receive reports of severe domestic violence cases that require urgent support and protection.

According to Ammerlaan, the shelter requires significant renovations before it can resume operations. The foundation is actively seeking additional funding to complete the necessary repairs and improvements.

The FCVR Shelter Services Suspended Due to Repairs situation highlights the growing need for resources to support victims of domestic and relational violence. FCVR continues to provide emergency assistance, evaluations, and guidance to individuals seeking help, even while shelter services remain unavailable.

Ammerlaan emphasized that demand for the foundation’s services remains high, with cases becoming increasingly complex. She stressed that restoring the shelter is a priority so that clients can receive the level of care, safety, and quality of life they deserve.

The organization has also observed an alarming number of young adults experiencing severe relationship violence. According to FCVR, many clients seeking assistance are 19 years old or older, although younger victims may also be affected.

Despite the challenges, Ammerlaan expressed appreciation that victims continue to reach out for help. She noted that seeking assistance is an important first step toward safety and recovery.

The FCVR Shelter Services Suspended Due to Repairs issue underscores the urgent need for community support and funding to restore critical services for victims of domestic violence in Aruba.
