The DIMAS re-entry letter Aruba guidance reminds permit holders planning to travel abroad to check whether they need a re-entry letter before leaving the island.
DIMAS Director Kathy Paskel said that international travel increases significantly during the summer vacation period, making it important for residents with permits to prepare the necessary travel documents in advance.
According to Paskel, people with a valid residence or work permit, or an official declaration confirming they are legally allowed to live and work in Aruba, generally do not need a re-entry letter if their documents remain valid.
However, she noted that many Spanish-speaking residents still request the document because it is available in four languages and clearly confirms that the holder legally resides and works in Aruba.
DIMAS continues to offer the re-entry letter as an optional service. The document costs 40 Aruban florins and applications can be submitted online through the DIMAS digital portal.
Applicants can complete the required payment at the MFA office, and the processing time is approximately one week.
Paskel advised travellers not to wait until the last minute before requesting the document.
Instead, she encouraged permit holders to apply well before their departure date to allow sufficient time for processing and to avoid unnecessary travel complications.
The DIMAS re-entry letter Aruba service is intended to help eligible travellers return to Aruba smoothly when additional proof of legal residency may be helpful during international travel.
