ORANJESTAD (AAN) – Scol Saludabel Aruba continues promoting health and wellbeing among students through its comprehensive school program focused on healthy lifestyles and emotional development.
The initiative encourages healthy eating, physical activity, mental health, social wellbeing, and safe learning environments for children across Aruba. Through education and collaboration, the program aims to help students grow stronger, happier, and more aware of healthy habits.
One important part of the program is “Siman Saludabel” (Healthy Week), during which schools focus on different themes such as nutrition, sports, movement, emotional wellbeing, safety, nature, and the environment.
Swinda Dumfries of DVG explained in an interview with DIARIO that the recent edition focused especially on mental health under the theme “Mental Strength and Mental Growth.”
Participating schools were encouraged to organize activities designed to strengthen the mental, social, and emotional wellbeing of students.
According to Dumfries, building a strong foundation for physical and mental health at an early age is extremely important.
She emphasized that when children learn healthy habits early in life — including exercise, healthy nutrition, emotional management, and respectful behavior — they have a better opportunity to grow into healthy adults.
Dumfries added that parents, schools, social workers, IBiSA, the government, and the community all play an important role in creating healthier children and, ultimately, a healthier Aruba.
