The DIMAS work permit pause for first regular applications by foreign nationals remains in force, according to a clarification reported by NoticiaCla on November 6. The department said the end of the Hunto pa Progreso programme should not be interpreted as reopening that application route.
Exceptions are limited to specified professions
The report says exceptions under the admissions handbook addendum include certain highly trained professionals, hotel managers, kitchen staff, specialised technicians, IT, education and healthcare professionals, accountants, bakers, butchers and workers on specified temporary construction projects.
Listed occupation does not guarantee permission
DIMAS emphasised that an occupation’s appearance on the exceptions list does not itself secure approval. Applications must meet the applicable legal requirements and procedures. Employers were advised to verify eligibility rather than rely on unconfirmed information. The pause remains until the government officially announces a change, according to the clarification.
