ORANJESTAD (AAN): The renovation project in De Vuyst marks a significant step by the Government of Aruba and FCCA toward improving infrastructure and enhancing the quality of life for residents.
This initiative focuses not only on upgrading housing but also on strengthening the overall community environment. The project includes home renovations, improved infrastructure, and the creation of recreational and shared community spaces.
Prime Minister Mike Eman emphasized that the government’s vision is to deliver progress that residents can feel in their daily lives—within their homes, neighborhoods, and surroundings. The De Vuyst Renovation Aruba Project aims to bring meaningful and lasting improvements to the area.
In this phase, approximately 40 homes will be renovated, alongside upgrades to roads, lighting, and community facilities. The project follows similar developments in Mabon and forms part of a broader plan that will also include Bushiri as the next phase.
Residents have already started noticing positive changes. Errol Mitchell shared that after years of neglect, the neighborhood is now visibly improving, though he stressed the need for consistent maintenance. Maria John highlighted the importance of safety and proper street lighting, while Atalia Piternella noted that the area is becoming better and more livable.
Beyond physical improvements, the government is also implementing social measures such as pension increases, improved healthcare access, and discussions around minimum wage, aiming for shared prosperity.
The De Vuyst Renovation Aruba Project highlights the importance of collaboration between the government and the community to achieve sustainable, long-term results.
