ORANJESTAD (AAN): Students at the International School of Aruba (ISA) recently took part in a successful Literacy Week, centered around the theme “Under the Sea.”
The initiative guided students through an engaging journey exploring marine life through reading, learning, and creative activities. The Lionfish Education Aruba School initiative became a highlight of the week, combining education with environmental awareness.
One of the most memorable moments was a special visit from Patrick van Brakel, an expert on the invasive lionfish species. During his session, he shared fascinating insights about lionfish and explained their impact on marine ecosystems.
Students gained a deeper understanding of the importance of protecting Aruba’s marine environment. The Lionfish Education Aruba School experience helped raise awareness about ecological balance and the role invasive species play in disrupting it.
The school expressed gratitude to van Brakel for dedicating his time to inspire and educate the students. His contribution made the Literacy Week even more meaningful and impactful.
Through activities like the Lionfish Education Aruba School program, ISA continues to promote environmental education and curiosity among young learners.
