Aruba senior wellbeing was highlighted during a visit by Minister Mervin Wyatt-Ras to Club Kibrahacha’s traditional Summer Camp for older adults.
The camp brought together a group of active seniors for activities aimed at promoting wellbeing, social interaction and continued participation in the community.
During the visit, Wyatt-Ras, Minister of Public Health, Social Affairs, Elderly Care and Addiction Policy, spent time with participants and expressed appreciation for both the seniors and the organizers.
The minister said older adults deserve opportunities to continue living with dignity, remaining active and participating fully in society.
He added that the government continues working to create conditions that improve quality of life and wellbeing for Aruba’s senior population.
“We believe in a society where everyone can continue to participate actively and contribute to the community,” Wyatt-Ras said.
“This includes our older adults, whose experience and wisdom remain of great value to Aruba.”
During the visit, the minister also spoke with Club Kibrahacha Director Janely Nicolas about the organization’s activities and its efforts to encourage active participation among older adults.
Nicolas said the Summer Camp was progressing successfully and that participants had responded positively to the programme.
She also thanked the Ministry of Social Affairs for its interest in the initiative and for supporting community organizations that contribute to the wellbeing of older adults.
Wyatt-Ras thanked Club Kibrahacha for its continued commitment to organizing recreational, social and educational activities.
He said these programmes contribute to both the physical and emotional wellbeing of participants.
The Government of Aruba recognizes the importance of community initiatives such as Club Kibrahacha’s Summer Camp because they promote health, social participation and meaningful connections.
Such programmes also provide spaces where friendships, mutual respect and a sense of belonging can develop.
Wyatt-Ras concluded his visit by wishing participants an enjoyable continuation of the camp and reaffirming the government’s commitment to supporting initiatives that improve Aruba senior wellbeing.
He said the objective is to help create an Aruba where older adults can continue living with dignity, quality of life and active participation in their communities.
