An Aruba earthquake measuring magnitude 3.8 was felt across the island on Friday morning, according to a report published by Diario. The tremor occurred at approximately 6:19 a.m. and was centered about 14 kilometers south of San Nicolas.

Diario reported coordinates of 12.26 degrees north and 69.92 degrees west, with the earthquake originating about 34.9 kilometers below the seabed. The epicenter was also described as roughly 17 kilometers south of the Marine Barracks pier in Savaneta and 28 kilometers south-southeast of Wilhelmina Park in Oranjestad.
Residents in San Nicolas, Santa Cruz and numerous other districts told the outlet they felt the shaking. Accounts varied: some people described a sound like a heavy truck passing, while others said they did not notice the tremor.

The report said the strongest movement appeared to last for roughly 20 to 30 seconds, followed by lighter motion. Areas where residents reported feeling the Aruba earthquake included Savaneta, Pos Chiquito, Paradera, Tanki Leendert, Alto Vista, Sabana Liber and Hooiberg.
Diario also noted a separate magnitude 4.9 earthquake more than six hours later, approximately 355 kilometers north of Aruba. The outlet did not report confirmed injuries or significant damage from the earlier local tremor.
