ORANJESTAD (AAN): On Sunday, June 14, the World Blood Donor Day, Veronica Camara from Bloedbank Aruba encouraged current donors and the community to continue donating blood.
“Currently, we have 1,300 donors, but our goal is to exceed 3,000,” Camara emphasized. She urged anyone interested in donating to visit Bloedbank Aruba and register online at bloedbankaruba.aw.
Camara highlighted the importance of blood donations, noting that each donor provides a critical, life-saving resource for patients, including surgical and oncology patients. Blood type “O Negative” is in highest demand, and additional donors of this type will ease pressure on current supplies.
Donors can give blood every three to four months, up to three times a year. For those unsure of their blood type, a quick test is provided at the blood bank. Bloedbank Aruba ensures that each donor is screened according to standard procedures to maintain safety and efficiency.
Bloedbank Aruba continues to encourage community participation to strengthen blood supply and save lives across the island.
