ORANJESTAD (AAN): Starting August 1, 2026, the Aruba government will increase monthly benefits for people with limitations and other vulnerable groups to help offset rising living costs.

Under this adjustment:

  • Benefits for persons with limitations increase from Afl. 1,080 to Afl. 1,180 per month.
  • Reparatietoeslag for minimum-wage earners rises from Afl. 125 to Afl. 225 monthly, totaling Afl. 2,700 annually.
  • Pension AOV increases: Afl. 500 per month for singles and Afl. 900 per month for households.
  • Medical insurance premiums for pensioners decrease from 5% to 0% for the first Afl. 30,000 annually.
  • Basic assistance for vulnerable families rises from Afl. 450 to Afl. 600 monthly, with additional school support for children.
  • Teachers see an average salary improvement of Afl. 250–400 per month.
  • Government absorbs higher fuel costs to reduce financial pressure on families and businesses.

Prime Minister Mike Eman and Finance Minister Geoffrey Wever emphasized that these measures strengthen purchasing power for senior citizens, families with school-aged children, minimum-wage workers, and persons with limitations, providing greater economic security and opportunity.

The adjustments reflect the government’s commitment to invest directly in the people, reduce financial burdens, and improve overall social welfare.
