FADA warns parents to keep talking with children about drug risks, including substances presented in packaging that resembles ordinary snacks or sweets. Prevention worker Rulienne Arends outlined the concerns in a November 3 Diario report.
Packaging is not a safety guarantee
Arends said familiar-looking packets and sweet-like forms can attract children’s attention. Her warning concerns the way substances can be presented; the report does not establish that ordinary branded snacks are contaminated or announce a specific product recall.
Schools and families share prevention work
According to Arends, FADA adapts prevention information for children’s ages, starting in kindergarten. She urged parents to discuss where children go, who they spend time with and whom they can approach for help. She called for continued conversation during festive periods when sweets are distributed.
