Sabrine Setrodjemino has earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Aruba’s Organization, Governance and Management program after successfully defending a thesis on obesity-prevention policy.
Her research examined the opportunities and obstacles affecting possible collaboration between Aruba’s Directie Volksgezondheid and quick-service restaurants.
Research explores a new policy partnership
Setrodjemino’s thesis was titled “Building Bridges: Policy-Related Enablers and Barriers Influencing Potential Collaboration Between Directie Volksgezondheid and Quick-Service Restaurants in Obesity Prevention in Aruba.”
According to a September 16 report by 24ora, the study addressed an area that has received limited research attention on the island. Aruba currently has no formal collaboration between the public-health directorate and quick-service restaurants focused on obesity prevention.
The research explored whether such a partnership could be developed, identified policy-related factors that could help or hinder cooperation, and offered recommendations intended to support effective collaboration.
University panel reviewed the thesis
The graduation committee consisted of Dr. Mieke de Droog, Valerie Maduro, MA, and Dr. Esther Vermeulen of Directie Volksgezondheid.
The achievement marks Setrodjemino’s completion of the Organization, Governance and Management program within the university’s Faculty of Arts and Science. The report also acknowledged the lecturers, professionals and wider University of Aruba community who supported her studies.
