Aruba BOA training began on Monday afternoon for thirteen customs officers and one investigator from Landsrecherche, according to a November 4 report by 24ora. The programme is expected to take approximately six to seven months.
Legal and practical preparation
The training prepares participants for the Buitengewoon Opsporingsambtenaar, or special investigating officer, role. It focuses on legal knowledge and practical skills needed for investigative duties within each participant’s lawful remit.
Minister stresses professional development
Justice Minister Arthur Dowers described the course as an investment in the professional and operational capacity of institutions responsible for law enforcement. He emphasised continuing development as well as staffing and equipment.
The fourteen participants have started the qualification process; the report does not say they have already completed the course or been granted new powers. It does not announce an exact graduation date or name all participants.
