ORANJESTAD, Aruba — The Parada di Lanterna returns on Friday, September 4, 2026, bringing the community together in Aruba’s Brazil district for an evening of light, music, folklore and colorful performances.
Parada di Lanterna Celebrates Aruba’s Cultural Heritage
The Parada di Lanterna is one of the most atmospheric moments of Aruba’s Temporada di Dia di Brazil. As the procession moves through the streets, participants showcase beautifully decorated lanterns alongside lively rhythms, singing and dancing.
More than simply a parade, the evening reflects the strong sense of community and pride behind efforts to keep Aruba’s local traditions, music and folklore alive for future generations.
The celebration is organized by Fundacion Chico Harms as part of the 2026 Dia di Brazil season. This year’s cultural program is being held under the theme “Brasa bo Cultura”, or “Embrace Your Culture.”

The lantern parade is followed by the Grand Cultural Folklore Parade on Sunday, September 6, beginning at 3:00 p.m. That procession is expected to pass through communities traditionally associated with Brazil, including Rooi Master, Caya di Brazil, Mabon, Noord Cura Cabay and Rooi Koochi.
