On May 25, Minister of Finance, Economic Affairs, and Primary Sector Geoffrey Wever met with the Aruba Trade and Industry Association (ATIA) for a Town Hall meeting. The session focused on the consensus Rijkswet houdbare overheidsfinanciën Aruba (RHOFA) and the Landsverordering waarborging houdbare overheidsfinanciën (LWHO).
Established in 1945, ATIA represents approximately 150 members and over 5,500 employees. The meeting was highly interactive, with members asking relevant questions to better understand the legislation. Minister Wever stated the goal was to provide accurate information to counter incorrect interpretations circulating in the community.
Minister Wever clarified that financial supervision is not new, as Aruba has operated under the Landsverordening Aruba Tijdelijk Financieel Toezicht (LAft) since 2015. RHOFA proposes a new structure focusing on sustainable public finances.
