Parliamentarian Drs. Shailiny Tromp-Lee has expressed profound concern regarding the leadership of Minister President Eman, criticizing a pattern of silence she claims characterizes his administration. As Aruba faces real crises requiring clarity and direction, Tromp-Lee argues that the necessary leadership from the highest level of government is missing.
“The question many Arubans are asking themselves is simple: where is the Minister President? Not in Parliament. Not in press conferences. Not in public statements on the crises affecting our families’ daily lives,” Tromp-Lee declared. She stated that this silence is not accidental but a conscious choice and a pattern attributed to Mr. Eman.
According to Tromp-Lee, the Minister President has never appeared in the Parliament hall for a debate and has left formal questions unanswered. She listed the rising cost of living, constant cabinet crises, increasing insecurity, and the worsening mental health crisis as critical issues where the only response has been silence.
Furthermore, Tromp-Lee addressed the recent signing of the HOFA law. She noted that while the majority of the people are against it and it contradicts the constitution, the Minister President signed it without standing before the people to defend or explain his decision. She emphasized that a Prime Minister has an obligation to speak to the people and answer questions, describing this as a moral and constitutional responsibility rather than a political preference.
