MP De Meza Demands Transparency on Minister Croes’ Travel

Parliamentarian Mike de Meza has called for total transparency regarding the travel activities of Minister Gerlien Croes during a recent session at the Parliament of Aruba. The request specifically addresses a trip to Curaçao that has been the subject of political debate since last year.

During his address on Monday, De Meza reflected on the extensive discussions held in 2025, noting that he had previously heard various arguments but felt there was insufficient ground to support a motion of no confidence at that time. He emphasized that taking such a serious decision requires substantial evidence and strong argumentation to ensure the integrity of the legislative process.

De Meza stressed that Parliament has fundamental rights and obligations anchored in law, but the Government also has a duty to react adequately and respect the legislative body. He questioned whether the Minister intends to finally answer the inquiries submitted by the opposition and if she will provide the necessary documentation to clarify the situation.

The MP underscored that when Parliament exercises its right to ask questions, it is entitled to a proper response from the executive branch. The demand for accountability and document disclosure remains a priority as the legislature seeks to ensure governmental operations meet the expected standards of integrity and openness.
