Concern Raised Over Young Adults with High Blood Pressure and High Blood Sugar

Jasmira Mora, Coordinator of POH, has expressed serious concern about the health of a group of young adults who are being diagnosed with high blood pressure and high blood sugar levels during routine medical checkups.

According to Mora, the main concern is that many individuals in this age group do not experience noticeable symptoms. As a result, they continue their daily lives unaware of their condition. Because they are young, there is often a mindset that they can freely consume alcohol and eat unhealthy foods without consequences, which can worsen their health—especially when they are unaware of existing medical issues.

Mora warned that untreated high blood pressure or high blood sugar can lead to dangerous situations, including blackouts or fainting episodes, which pose a serious risk, particularly when driving. She stressed the importance of regular medical checkups and ongoing monitoring if abnormal results are detected.

With the festive season approaching, Mora urged the public to be especially cautious about excessive food and alcohol consumption. She emphasized the importance of staying hydrated, particularly when consuming alcohol or foods high in fat, sugar, or salt.

She recommends drinking six to eight glasses of water per day and encourages everyone to take proactive steps to protect their health.
