Aruba Kingdom Relations : Aruba Must Build and Strengthen Its Relationship Within the Dutch Kingdom
During his official mission in The Hague, parliamentarian Eduard Pieters of the PPA faction placed a distinct focus on Aruba’s role within the Dutch Kingdom. Pieters emphasized that Aruba should not merely be a country defending its position, but must seek to become a proactive partner that seeks to strengthen the relationships that determine the future of the entire Kingdom. His message was consistent during all meetings: a strong Kingdom is not built with pressure or distance, but with dialogue, understanding, and mutual trust. According to Pieters, one of the greatest weaknesses within the Kingdom is the lack of direct relationships between decision-makers. Many politicians in the Netherlands do not deeply know Aruba’s reality. “We cannot assume they understand us; we must create understanding.” His presence in The Hague was not symbolic but strategic, where his role was to build bridges, create trust and partnerships. “Strong relationships are not built only with people you agree with. They are built with everyone who has influence on decisions.” He emphasized that the relationship within the Kingdom must evolve and be based on trust, mutual respect, transparency, and understanding of differences. “We are not strong separated; we are strong when we work together.” Pieters concluded: “We must move from a Kingdom of distance to a Kingdom of connection, because only then can we ensure that every country, large or small, feels they have a real place in the future of the Kingdom.”
