Tax Revenues Increase by 36 Million Florins in 2025

As the year 2025 nears its end, the Department of Taxes (DIMP) has reported a total of 945.3 million florins in tax revenue as of early December. This marks an increase of 36 million florins compared to the previous year, according to DIMP Director Luenne Gomez-Pieters, who shared the update during an interview with DIARIO.

Gomez-Pieters explained that the largest contributors to the growth are corporate tax (winstbelasting), dividend tax from 2024 declared this year, and property tax (grondbelasting). She also highlighted increased revenue from Airbnb properties, as DIMP continues verifying non-registered short-term rental units.

In addition, BBO and BAVP generated 265.2 million florins, while the tourist levy brought in 80.6 million florins.

Regarding other revenue sources (Derden), such as leasehold fees (erfpacht), DIMAS retributions, AZV contributions, and SVb premiums, the director confirmed notable increases—especially for SVb and AZV, which collected 18.3 million and 15.6 million florins, respectively. ATA’s Sui Generis tax reported 112 million florins in revenue through October 2025.

Gomez-Pieters also emphasized significant improvements in tax compliance:

  • Payroll tax (loonbelasting): 90% compliance
  • BBO: 87% compliance
  • Tourist levy: 92% compliance

She noted that, compared to compliance levels of 63%–68% in 2015, the increase is largely driven by ongoing digitalization, which makes it easier for taxpayers to file and pay on time.

“Revenues are moving exactly how they should, based on the adjustments outlined in the 2025 Autumn Budget Update,” said Gomez-Pieters. “We are very pleased with these results. Globally, tax systems operate based on the principle that when income is generated, taxes must be paid. DIMP’s goal is to ensure proper compliance, and ultimately, these revenues go directly to our government.
