The Dr. Horacio Oduber Hospital (HOH) has released its September 2025 performance report, offering insight into hospital operations, patient admissions, and attendance rates. The hospital says these figures aim to build public trust, transparency, and awareness about healthcare in Aruba.

In September, 851 patients were hospitalized, with 54.4% admitted through the emergency department. The average hospital stay was 3.6 days, and bed occupancy stood at 74%, slightly lower than in September 2024 (87.8%). A total of 643 surgeries were performed, an increase from 579 in the same month last year.

The Emergency Department treated 2,693 patients, and 68 babies were born (33 boys and 35 girls). Meanwhile, Bloedbank Aruba recorded 170 blood donations during the month.

Hospital specialists conducted 7,512 consultations, but notably, 1,239 patients (14%) missed their appointments. Reasons for missed consultations varied — some patients forgot, faced transport issues, were hospitalized, or failed to cancel their bookings. The Radiology Department carried out 5,514 diagnostic tests such as CT scans, MRIs, and ultrasounds, though 91 patients did not attend their appointments. The Laboratory Department processed 16,012 test requests, and 872 patients were discharged in September.

HOH emphasized that more than 1,200 staff members work daily to provide continuous, high-quality care. The hospital reminds the community that its doors remain open to everyone in need of medical attention and urges patients to attend their scheduled appointments to ensure efficient healthcare service delivery.
