Wingo expects its five direct Colombia-Aruba routes to carry nearly 150,000 passengers in 2026, highlighting the growing importance of Colombian travel to the island.
The airline and the Aruba Tourism Authority presented the forecast in a connectivity update published September 9. Wingo currently links Oranjestad with Bogotá, Medellín, Cali, Bucaramanga and Barranquilla.
Passenger traffic reaches 73,000 through July
Wingo carried 73,000 travelers between Colombia and Aruba from January through July, according to figures shared by the airline and tourism authority. Colombian citizens represented 70% of passengers, while Aruban and Dutch residents accounted for the remaining 30%.
Leisure travel generated 84% of demand. The figures show how the expanded network supports both vacations in Aruba and outbound trips from the island to Colombia.
Five Colombian cities now have direct Aruba service
Wingo began its Aruba operation from Bogotá in December 2016. It added Medellín in 2022 and Cali in 2023, followed by Bucaramanga on June 30 and Barranquilla on July 14.
The routes operate with a mix of regular and seasonal frequencies that vary with market demand. For travelers starting in Aruba, Medellín and Barranquilla are among the preferred Colombian destinations for tourism, medical services, business and family visits.
Airline promotes affordability and regional access
Wingo Commercial and Planning Vice President Jorge Jiménez said the airline wants to make Aruba more accessible beyond Bogotá. He also said Wingo’s fares can be up to 40% lower than competitors, a promotional claim attributed to the airline.
Aruba Tourism Authority representative Claudia Delgado said connectivity remains central to attracting Colombian visitors and encouraging them to return for more authentic island experiences.
The projected 150,000 passengers would make 2026 a significant year for the Colombia-Aruba market as the two newest routes complete Wingo’s five-city network.
