Waste Collection Success Shows Aruba Cleanliness Drive following the strong public response to the new “Zona di Desperdicio” facility operating at Ecotech Freezone in Parkietenbos.
Prime Minister Mike Eman, together with the Ministry of Tourism, Transport and Labor led by Minister Wendrick Cicilia, expressed satisfaction with the early results achieved by the initiative during its first weeks of operation.
According to Eman, Waste Collection Success Shows Aruba Cleanliness Drive because the community has embraced the opportunity to dispose of waste free of charge in a responsible and accessible manner. Within approximately two weeks of opening, nearly 1,000 vehicles visited the facility, with projections indicating that more than 2,000 vehicles could use the service by the end of the week.
The facility has already collected more than 165,000 kilograms of waste, demonstrating both the demand for proper disposal services and the public’s commitment to maintaining a cleaner island.
Government officials noted that Waste Collection Success Shows Aruba Cleanliness Drive and confirms that residents are willing to actively participate in environmental initiatives when adequate facilities are available.
The Zona di Desperdicio project builds on the momentum created by the successful “Baki den Bario” program, which provided residents across different neighborhoods with opportunities to dispose of household and commercial waste conveniently.
According to the government, the positive response to previous cleanup initiatives showed that Aruba’s communities are eager to contribute to environmental cleanliness when given practical solutions and support.
Prime Minister Eman emphasized that the project forms part of a broader vision to improve cleanliness throughout neighborhoods, around homes, businesses, and schools. By providing a dedicated location for waste disposal, the initiative helps reduce illegal dumping and encourages responsible waste management.
The Waste Collection Success Shows Aruba Cleanliness Drive program also reflects cooperation between government agencies and the public in creating a cleaner and more attractive Aruba for residents and visitors alike.
Located at Parkietenbos 53-A, the Zona di Desperdicio facility is open daily from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., offering a convenient option for residents to dispose of waste responsibly while supporting Aruba’s environmental goals.
