Aruba Library Earns ACURIL Regional Recognition following the participation of Biblioteca Nacional Aruba (BNA) in the 55th annual ACURIL Conference held in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
A delegation from BNA joined hundreds of library, archive, and museum professionals from across the Caribbean during the conference, which took place from June 7 to June 11, 2026. Participants attended presentations, workshops, panel discussions, and professional sessions focused on artificial intelligence, digital preservation, information access, sustainability, and the future of libraries and archives.
According to BNA, Aruba Library Earns ACURIL Regional Recognition while strengthening professional networks and gaining valuable knowledge that will support the continued development of library and archival services in Aruba.
A major highlight of the conference was the award presented by the ACURIL Puerto Rico Chapter. Biblioteca Nacional Aruba received the prestigious Albertina Pérez de Rosa Award for Alliances and Collaborative Projects Among Information Units in the Caribbean.
The award recognized the outstanding collaboration and partnerships that contributed to the success of the Hofi Joy community project. Judges praised the initiative for its contributions to sustainable education, community engagement, and public learning opportunities while integrating Aruba’s nature, culture, and artistic heritage.
The Aruba Library Earns ACURIL Regional Recognition achievement reflects the positive impact that collaborative community projects can have on cultural and educational development throughout the region.
BNA dedicated the honor to its staff, partners, volunteers, and community members whose support helped make Hofi Joy a successful space for learning, cultural appreciation, and community interaction.
The library also expressed gratitude to the organizers of ACURIL Puerto Rico for hosting an inspiring and well-organized conference. The knowledge gained and professional relationships strengthened during the event are expected to contribute to future innovation and service improvements.
