Scouting Aruba Celebrates ‘Good Deeds Day’ with Heartwarming Gesture for Elderly

ORANJESTAD (AAN): On Sunday, April 19, Aruba proudly joined the global movement of ‘Good Deeds Day,’ with Scouting Aruba spearheading a heartwarming initiative dedicated to the island’s elderly care homes.

Collaborating with the Youth Parliament, Power of Youth, and the Believe in Yourself Foundation, Scouting Aruba—under the guidance of HKC Adelin Trimon-Geerman, supported by HC Dave Martinus and fellow members and board—embarked on a mission to collect foodstuffs and share meaningful time and love with the elderly.

To ensure a tranquil and pleasant environment for both visitors and residents, the organizers opted for a delegation approach, allowing for more personal and profound interactions while avoiding overcrowding in the care homes.

The day transcended mere donation delivery; it became a lesson in life’s values for the young participants—bridging the generational gap and giving attention to those who contributed to the country’s development.

The care homes visited expressed deep gratitude and emotion, emphasizing that the presence and conversations were the greatest gift of all.

The activity concluded under the shade of a tree, where organizers thanked everyone present—especially the drivers who provided transportation and all volunteers who lent a hand. Volunteers shared their experiences, received certificates of participation, and a goodie bag.

Sponsors Make Scouting Aruba Good Deeds Day Possible

Scouting Aruba extends heartfelt thanks to the generous local businesses that made this project possible: Ecotech, Martijn Trading, Romar Trading, Subway, Oduber Agencies, Caribbean Print Center, Satex, El Louvre, Windcreek Hotel, Divi & Tamarijn All Inclusive Hotel, Tec NV, La Moderna, Costa Linda, and the dedicated workers of Costa Linda Hotel who united to collect the necessary food items.

Good Deeds Day is a global movement celebrated in more than 110 countries, where millions come together to do good for their communities. Scouting Aruba is proud to have served as the driving force behind this initiative on the island.

Next year’s Good Deeds Day is scheduled for April 18, 2027.
