The San Nicolas summit heard Prime Minister Mike Eman call for new investment to improve residents’ lives as well as the local economy, according to 24ora’s November 6 account of the third San Nicolas Business Summit.
Former refinery site features in discussion
The event, organised by the San Nicolas Business Association under the theme The Common Good, included discussion of future opportunities at the former refinery site. Eman said the government was working with Dutch technical support on a governance structure for site cleanup and the selection of future economic activities.
Investors urged to connect with residents
The report says entrepreneurs presented projects relating to housing, food security, inter-island air connections and tourism. Eman urged investors to engage with the community and linked development to affordable housing, public spaces and better living conditions. These are the priorities and projects discussed at the summit, not confirmation of approved contracts or completed investments.
