The PPA faction is currently in the Netherlands to participate in several high-level meetings within the framework of the Tripartite and IPKO. These proceedings involve delegations from Aruba, Curaçao, Sint Maarten, and the Netherlands to discuss various topics impacting the future of the Dutch Kingdom.
Parliamentarian Eduard Pieters identified the *Geschillenregeling* as a primary subject, noting its long-standing significance for the Kingdom countries. The delegation will evaluate proposed changes and the constitutional process surrounding this regulation. Additionally, the agenda includes examining solutions for elderly care and the legacy of slavery, a topic the PPA wishes to see regularly addressed. Pieters emphasized that, contrary to some beliefs, the Rijkswet HOFA is not an official item on the IPKO agenda, as these meetings focus on cooperation and institutional affairs.
However, the PPA intends to utilize its presence to conduct separate follow-up meetings with political factions established during contacts in April. In these bilateral sessions, the focus will shift to the Rijkswet HOFA and the recent advice from the Raad van Advies. “We will share the concerns we have and the constitutional arguments the Raad van Advies brought forward, specifically regarding Article 38 of the HOFA Kingdom Law,” Pieters declared. He affirmed the party’s commitment to dialogue over conflict to defend Aruba’s interests.
