Fuel discharge interrupts truck service
The Parkietenbos wastewater plant temporarily suspended service for septic trucks after fuel was discharged into the facility’s receiving pit. Francis Ras of AWSS said a septic-truck company was responsible for the discharge reported at the Aruba treatment plant.
Cleanup expected to take several hours
AWSS stopped accepting trucks so contaminated material could be removed and the affected area cleaned. The Parkietenbos wastewater plant normally receives approximately 120 trucks each day. The cleanup was expected to require between two and three hours.
Extended hours planned after reopening
AWSS said trucks could not discharge while work was underway. To accommodate operators affected by the interruption, the plant planned to remain open later than usual so trucks could return during the evening once service had normalized.
