Aruba's Ombudsman opened a formal Parkietenbos air-quality investigation covering persistent odors, health concerns and government response.
Formal Review Follows Persistent Complaints
Aruba Ombudsman Jurima Bryson has opened a formal Parkietenbos air-quality investigation following a complaint from a residents' interest organization and wider reports of persistent odors. The review covers Parkietenbos, Mahuma, Buena Vista, Simeon Antonio, Bucutiweg, Wayaca and nearby areas.
Government Handling and Health Concerns Under Review
The investigation will examine available air-quality information, possible consequences for health and living conditions, and how authorities handled reports from residents. Ministries responsible for general affairs, environment, infrastructure, energy, health and social affairs have been contacted along with AWSS, the Crisis Management Office, DNM and DVG.
Residents Invited to Submit Information
Residents, businesses and community organizations can share experiences and supporting documents through a special OMBOX on the Ombudsman's website. The office says it will conduct the work independently and consider information from residents, agencies and experts. A public report will record findings and may include recommendations for the institutions involved.
