Aruba's AIOF budget for 2026-2027 advances after the government answered 404 parliamentary questions on proposed public investments.
Government Responds to 404 Questions
The Aruba government has delivered its formal response to 404 parliamentary questions about the proposed Aruba AIOF budget for 2026 and 2027. Finance, Economic Affairs and Primary Sector Minister Geoffrey Wever said the response forms part of the legal process required before Parliament can consider approval of the investment fund's first budget.
Proposal Covers Infrastructure and Public Facilities
The proposed investments include education facilities, neighborhood renewal, government services, public facilities, infrastructure and sustainable development. The AIOF was formally created by national ordinance on July 9, 2026, establishing a legal structure for multi-year public investment planning.
Parliamentary Treatment Is the Next Step
The initial budget bill was delivered to Parliament on August 6, and lawmakers submitted their formal questions on September 14. With the government's answers now filed, the Aruba AIOF budget can move to parliamentary treatment. Wever said the fund is intended to account for the preparation time, priorities and public- and private-sector capacity involved in carrying out major projects.
