Ten-Week Project Covers 3.9 Kilometres
A Colony road resurfacing project began on Monday, October 5, with work planned over 10 weeks. The project will apply a new asphalt layer to a total of 3.9 kilometres of road and is divided into three phases, according to information presented at a government press conference.
First Phase Runs Toward Anker Blauw
The first phase starts near Kamini Kitchen and continues uphill toward Anker Blauw. Ministers Rene Herdé and Wendrick Cicilia joined Aruba Tourism Authority chief executive Ronella Croes to provide details about the work and the traffic arrangements intended to keep vehicles moving through the area.
Temporary Route Uses Former Refinery Land
A marked alternative route will pass from Fort Heuvelstraat across a temporary road on former refinery property. Warning barriers and signs are expected around the work zone. The Department of Public Works has asked drivers and visitors for patience while the Colony road resurfacing project advances through its scheduled phases.
