Mieckey Gravenhorst’s 80th birthday brought family and close friends together for a celebration filled with music, karaoke and memories at Gravenhorst’s home in Madiki.
The milestone gathering was reported by 24ora on September 10. Guests joined the celebrant for an evening that combined live entertainment, familiar songs and a playful return to an earlier chapter of Aruba’s Carnival history.
Music and karaoke filled the celebration
Entertainment during the party included a DJ, Julio’s Karaoke, Soledad Reina and Addonsito Croes. The program featured several songs familiar to the audience, including “It’s Now or Never” and a selection of locally known favorites.
Food for the gathering was prepared by Thyara Doornkamp and her mother, Omayra de Windt, according to the report. The celebration continued with relatives and friends gathered around Gravenhorst at the Madiki residence.
Family and friends received special thanks
During remarks to the gathering, Gravenhorst thanked the people who have offered support through good and difficult times. Special appreciation was expressed for daughter Carissa, siblings and longtime friends.
Gravenhorst also told those present that the affection and companionship shown over the years remained deeply valued. The occasion gave guests an opportunity to recognize both the milestone birthday and the relationships built across eight decades.
Friends recreate a Carnival memory
One memorable moment came when Gravenhorst and eight friends staged a lighthearted recreation of a youth Carnival queen competition associated with Club RCA. The presentation added a nostalgic element to the birthday and connected the evening with Aruba’s Carnival traditions.
The gathering concluded with congratulations and wishes from relatives and friends for many more years together.
