Mabon Residents Welcome Increased Purchasing Power following a series of measures introduced by the AVP-Futuro government aimed at strengthening the financial well-being of pensioners, working families, and vulnerable groups across Aruba.
Astrid Vries, a resident of Mabon and president of the Mabon Commission, expressed appreciation for the government’s efforts to place the welfare of citizens at the forefront through policies designed to improve purchasing power and economic security.
According to Vries, one of the most significant improvements has been the increase in pension benefits. She noted that approximately 101 pensioners live in the Mabon community and depend on their pensions to meet daily expenses. The additional financial support has provided meaningful relief and greater peace of mind for many seniors.
Mabon Residents Welcome Increased Purchasing Power not only because of pension increases but also due to expanded assistance for vulnerable families. Measures such as higher welfare benefits and additional support for school-related expenses are helping families manage the rising cost of living while continuing to invest in their children’s education.
Vries also highlighted improvements for workers, including increased compensation for minimum-wage employees and better employment conditions for teachers. She stated that recognizing the contributions of workers is essential to building a stronger and more equitable society.
In the healthcare sector, residents have welcomed the restoration of AZV coverage for important medications and government measures to help absorb rising fuel costs. Additional support for people with disabilities was also praised as an important step toward ensuring that no citizen is left behind.
The Mabon Residents Welcome Increased Purchasing Power initiative is expected to benefit thousands of households through increased income, stronger social support programs, and improved economic stability.
Vries emphasized that these measures should be viewed as investments in the entire community rather than benefits for specific groups alone. She noted that nearly every family has relatives, friends, or loved ones who are pensioners, students, workers, or individuals requiring additional support.
The Mabon Residents Welcome Increased Purchasing Power message reflects growing optimism among residents who believe that strengthening purchasing power contributes to a more united, secure, and prosperous Aruba.
