A Dutch proposal could improve Aruba EU funding access by creating a common European platform for the Caribbean parts of the Kingdom.
The initiative is intended to strengthen cooperation with Brussels and help islands prepare projects capable of securing European Union grants and investment. Although Aruba has formal access to programs through its Overseas Countries and Territories status, limited project capacity can make those funds difficult to use.
Priorities for 2028–2034
The Netherlands is advocating access to more of the future Global Europe program, simpler procedures, separate territorial budgets and calls adapted to small jurisdictions during negotiations for the 2028–2034 EU budget.
Digital and maritime links, energy transition and waste management are among the proposed priorities. Aruba has been invited to submit projects as work on Aruba EU funding access continues.
