AZV says hospital advances to Horacio Oduber Hospital (HOH) have reached Afl. 31 million in 2026 after a further Afl. 15 million was made available. The insurer’s executive body described the additional support in a statement reported by 24ora on November 3.
Additional liquidity while studies continue
AZV said it has provided extra resources as advances since February to give the hospital more room to address its liquidity difficulties. The Health Ministry, HOH and AZV have been discussing the situation for several months, according to the statement.
The parties are awaiting the results of joint studies, which AZV described as necessary to reach a structural and lasting solution. The statement does not announce the completion of those studies.
AZV says conditions accompany the advances
The executive body said the support is subject to conditions intended to ensure proper use of public funds and protect continuity, accessibility and quality of hospital care. It said monitoring how insured residents’ funds are used remains part of its responsibility.
AZV presented the further advance as interim support while the parties continue working towards a longer-term solution, rather than as an announcement that the hospital’s financial difficulties have ended.
