ORANJESTAD (AAN) – Joey Francisco has officially graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Organization, Governance and Management from the Faculty of Arts and Science at the University of Aruba.
As previously reported by DIARIO, Joey successfully defended his thesis titled “Building the Bridge Between Anti-Doping Perception and Action.”
The graduation committee included Nurianne Arias, MSc, Niels Wiskerke, MA, and Marushka Sarah Lee-Tromp, MSc. Program manager Ahmet Talan, MSc, family members, university lecturers, and fellow students were also present during the presentation.
Francisco’s research focused on the effectiveness of Aruba’s anti-doping initiatives in areas such as education, rule compliance, and participation in research, based on the perceptions of athletes, athlete support personnel, and representatives from sports organizations.
One of the recommendations presented in the thesis was to introduce anti-doping education earlier for athletes while adapting educational approaches according to the needs of different athlete groups.
Another recommendation encouraged greater collaboration between the University of Aruba and educational institutions to strengthen research capacity related to anti-doping efforts.
Joey expressed appreciation to the lecturers and professionals from the OGM department and everyone inside and outside the University of Aruba who contributed to his academic journey.
