Eleomar Mateo has completed a Master of Science in Sustainability for Engineering at the University of Aruba after successfully defending a thesis on marine energy potential, according to 24ora’s October 19 report.
Research examines offshore wind potential
Mateo studied in the SISSTEM program, short for Sustainable Island Solutions through Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. With a background in Electrical Power Engineering, he compared marine energy technologies and assessed their potential, limitations and suitability for Aruba.
His research then examined offshore wind through a preliminary feasibility assessment considering energy, technical and environmental factors. The report describes academic research, not approval or construction of an offshore wind project.
Degree marks an academic milestone
24ora reported that Mateo successfully defended the work and completed the degree. His stated academic focus is contributing knowledge that can support a more sustainable future for Aruba.
