The sixth-edition Playa Film Festival winners have been announced, and submissions are already open for the 2027 program.
France’s “The Brittle Little Ones” won best international short in the online public competition, while “Mision Brio,” directed by Ephrayim Odor, also won in the online presentations. Maria College Mavo received the School Short Story award for its Hooiberg story.
Aruba films and filmmakers recognized
“Hobi,” directed by Aramis Garcia Gonzalez, won the Kingdom of Shorts audience award, and Loëlle Monsanto’s “Fort Buku” received the jury prize. Rebecca Roos was honored with the Ola di Grandeza award for 30 years of contribution to Aruba’s documentary and film identity.
Applications for 2027 are now accepted through FilmFreeway. The next edition will also mark 10 years since CINEARUBA began outdoor screenings, extending the legacy of the Playa Film Festival winners.
