ORANJESTAD (AAN) – After more than 50 years of dedicated volunteer service, Digna Geerman has announced her retirement from working in addiction recovery and social support, marking the end of a lifetime devoted to helping others.
Speaking in connection with the International Day Against Drug Abuse, Geerman reflected on her decades of service guiding young people and adults struggling with addiction. Many individuals were able to rebuild their lives through the care, compassion, and support she provided over the years.
In her farewell message, Geerman expressed heartfelt gratitude to God and to everyone who supported her throughout her journey. She chose not to mention specific names, saying she did not want to unintentionally leave anyone out.
While describing her retirement as bittersweet, she expressed hope that lasting solutions to addiction challenges will continue to be found and that future generations will carry on the work of supporting those in need.
Her five decades of volunteer service have left a lasting impact on countless families and communities across Aruba.
