The information was shared during an informative meeting of the Parliamentary Health Commission on March 3, 2026, where members met with representatives from Jeugdgezondheidszorg (JGZ) of the Directie Volksgezondheid (DVG).

According to Parliamentarian Rocco Tjon, the meeting demonstrated that Aruba’s child health system is undergoing an important transformation, with several projects already in progress or in advanced stages of planning.

The Digital Kindvolgsysteem Aruba Child Health System Ensures Every Child Gets Care through a modern digital monitoring system that will improve coordination between healthcare services, schools, and support institutions.

Officials explained that the Digital Kindvolgsysteem (EKD) represents a significant step toward modernizing youth healthcare in Aruba. The system will allow professionals to track and monitor the development of children more effectively, ensuring that no child is overlooked when it comes to receiving necessary care and attention.

The initiative will also strengthen collaboration among healthcare providers, educators, and social services, creating a more integrated support network for young people.

During the meeting, Parliament was informed about the extensive work being carried out by the multidisciplinary JGZ team, which focuses on the health, growth, and development of children and adolescents.

Despite certain limitations, the department is currently working on several critical projects that aim to strengthen the overall youth health system.

In addition to the digital monitoring system, discussions also included improvements to vaccination programs and continued monitoring of child development across Aruba.

The Digital Kindvolgsysteem Aruba Child Health System Ensures Every Child Gets Care as part of a broader strategy for the 2026–2030 period, which aims to build a stronger youth healthcare structure supported by updated legislation.

One key component of this strategy is strengthening the legal framework through the Landsverordening Publieke Gezondheid, which will help position JGZ as a central player in the network of integrated youth care services.

While the overall vision remains positive, the meeting also identified areas that require additional attention and investment to ensure that the planned improvements can be successfully implemented.

Members of Parliament expressed appreciation for the transparency and dedication shown by the JGZ team.

The Health Commission confirmed its commitment to continue monitoring the progress of these initiatives and to provide the necessary support to ensure that Aruba’s youth health system continues to improve.

According to officials, the goal is to create a future where every child in Aruba receives the care, guidance, and support needed for healthy development.
