ORANJESTAD (AAN) – Aruba and Colombia are expanding their cooperation through a new direct Wingo flight route and healthcare initiatives aimed at benefiting residents of both countries.
According to Colombian Consul Gustavo Serrano Amaya, Wingo officially launched its direct Bucaramanga–Aruba–Bucaramanga service on June 17, operating two flights per week. The route is expected to improve tourism, trade, investment and travel between Aruba and Colombia’s Santander region.
Serrano said the direct connection responds to growing demand from travelers seeking faster access without having to connect through Bogotá. He also noted that Bucaramanga is widely recognized for its high-quality specialized medical services, making it an attractive destination for Arubans seeking medical treatment.
The Colombian Consulate is also expanding community support in Aruba by launching its second free oral health campaign for Colombian residents who have regularized their immigration status but are not yet covered by Aruba’s health insurance system (AZV).
Additional free medical checkups and laboratory testing will soon be offered as part of the consulate’s broader effort to improve the well-being of the Colombian community living in Aruba.
The initiatives highlight the growing partnership between Aruba and Colombia through improved connectivity, healthcare cooperation and stronger people-to-people ties.
