ORANJESTAD (AAN) – FUTURO parliamentarian Muzannin Wever addressed the parliament on Monday during a public meeting concerning the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology. Wever responded to recent inquiries from the opposition, arguing that while they now demand rapid solutions, they failed to address these identical issues during their seven-and-a-half-year term in office.
Wever acknowledged that Minister Gerlien Croes inherited a department filled with systemic problems. He emphasized that the current administration is working diligently to rectify past mistakes and implement lawful procedures. According to Wever, the previous government, which served from 2018 to 2024, frequently used ministerial decrees to authorize payments for learning materials that are now the subject of debate.
The parliamentarian pointed out that these payments were conducted structurally in the past without proper justification. He criticized the opposition for now raising concerns about practices they themselves normalized while in power. Wever asserted that Minister Croes is focused on cleaning up the ministry and ensuring future operations adhere to Aruban regulations.
