One Year Governing Without Direction: Confusion Plagues AVP-FUTURO Government
ORANJESTAD (AAN): After nearly a year in office, the current government has still not managed to establish basic clarity regarding its own structure of responsibilities. To this day, the Landsverordening Instelling Ministeries (LIM) has not been approved, meaning that officially, it remains unclear which minister is accountable for which area.
AVP-FUTURO Government Confusion Raises Accountability Concerns
This situation has raised concerns, as a government without a formalized division of tasks creates confusion both internally and for Parliament and the public.
The issue became more evident when Minister Gerlien Croes appeared in Parliament to provide explanations on a topic that formally falls under the responsibility of the Prime Minister, who signs the Landspakket reports. The result is a government operating without clear lines of responsibility, without defined accountability, and without sufficient transparency.
Government Without Direction Undermines Public Confidence
This weakens parliamentary oversight and undermines public confidence. Critics argue that serious governance begins with clarity regarding who is responsible for what, so that ministers can be properly held accountable.
It is being called time for the government to put its own house in order.
