On Friday afternoon, the Aruba Organized Crime Drug Department executed a significant operation at Rodgers Beach, resulting in the detention of multiple individuals. The intervention took place around sunset as officers intercepted a group suspected of attempting to transport drugs via a jet ski. According to reports, police had been monitoring the situation closely after receiving a tip, tracking the suspects from a pier until their arrival at the beach.
Upon arrival at the south side of Rodgers Beach, authorities descended upon a jeep and several wave runners used by the suspects. The investigation revealed that the group, comprised of men and women, intended to pass the illicit cargo into the water for retrieval. Officers apprehended more than five people at the scene and transported them to the police station for further interrogation.
During questioning, investigators obtained the address of the alleged leader of the operation. This information facilitated a raid conducted Friday night at a residence on Fiyostraat in Tarabana. Accompanied by a representative from the Public Prosecutor’s office, police searched the property extensively. Authorities inspected vessels, pickup trucks, and the interior and exterior of the home, leading to the seizure of several important items as evidence in the ongoing case.
