The Aruba Hotel & Tourism Association (AHATA) recently certified a large group of supervisors and managers who completed a specialized training program designed to enhance leadership skills within the local industry. The certification ceremony marked the conclusion of a course offered in collaboration with the Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Association Education Foundation (CHTAEF).

Participants from various sectors, including restaurants, hotels, timeshares, retail, and tours, engaged in practical and interactive training. The curriculum, titled “Own Your Supervisory Authority Responsibly,” focused on empowering leaders to execute their supervisory roles effectively while balancing authority with employee motivation.

During the event, AHATA President & CEO Tisa LaSorte praised the graduates for their dedication to accepting supervisory responsibilities and pursuing career advancement. Minister of Tourism, Transporte and Labor, Wendrick C. Cicilia, also addressed the attendees, delivering a motivational speech where he commended AHATA for its investment in the professional development of Aruba’s tourism workforce.

The certificates were presented by CHTAEF instructors Louise John and Suzanne Shillingford-Brooks alongside AHATA leadership. This cohort joins more than 450 individuals who have previously graduated from the course. AHATA extended its gratitude to Eagle Aruba Resort and La Cabana Beach Resort for their support of the program, reinforcing the organization’s commitment to fostering quality and responsible tourism through workforce education.
