Aruba MBI Program Emphasized by Reclassering to Reduce Driving Under Influence

The Aruba MBI program driving under influence 2026 is receiving increased attention from Reclassering as part of ongoing efforts to reduce incidents involving alcohol-impaired driving. Reclassering Director Seraida Pemberton-Leonard highlighted the importance of the “Manehando Bao Influencia” (MBI) program during an interview with Matutino DIARIO.

According to Pemberton-Leonard, the Aruba MBI program driving under influence 2026 is specifically designed for individuals who come into contact with the justice system due to driving under the influence of alcohol. The program focuses on raising awareness about risky behavior and the serious consequences of choosing to drive after consuming alcohol.

Reclassering offers the MBI program at least four times per month, serving an average of approximately 200 participants per year. Individuals are referred either directly by the Ministry of Justice or mandated by a judge following a positive alcohol breath test that exceeds the legal limit.

Pemberton-Leonard explained that judges may impose a combination of penalties, including fines or temporary suspension of a driver’s license, but participation in the Aruba MBI program driving under influence 2026 remains a crucial component. The program aims to educate participants about the dangers of impaired driving and encourage behavioral change.

She further clarified that a person does not need to be visibly intoxicated to be referred to Reclassering. Once alcohol consumption exceeds the legal limit, the individual is considered under the influence, regardless of outward signs of intoxication.

In cases involving fatal accidents, the legal process differs, with judges assessing each situation individually. However, when alcohol or other substances are involved, Reclassering may still require participation in the MBI program as part of rehabilitation and supervision.

The program is intended for adults aged 18 and older. While offenders vary in age, Pemberton-Leonard noted that most participants are aged 30 and above, although younger individuals are also involved.

She concluded by emphasizing that while punishment plays a role, awareness and prevention are equally important. The Aruba MBI program driving under influence 2026 remains a long-standing initiative, but increased emphasis is being placed on it due to ongoing concerns about impaired driving and its consequences for public safety.
