ORANJESTAD, Aruba — An Aruba art auction organized by Boardwalk Boutique Hotel is raising money to support humanitarian relief efforts for people affected by recent earthquakes in Venezuela and Colombia.
The Palm Beach hotel is auctioning an original painting titled Sunset, created by local artist Suelyn Dankerlui.
The artwork is part of a pair depicting two iconic moments along Aruba’s Palm Beach coastline: The Sunrise and Sunset.
The Sunrise will remain permanently at Boardwalk Boutique Hotel, while Sunset is being offered to the public through the charity auction.
Local Art Supports Humanitarian Relief
The highest bidder in the Aruba art auction will become the owner of the original Sunset painting.
Proceeds from the winning bid will be directed toward humanitarian causes assisting communities affected by earthquakes in Venezuela and Colombia.
The cause has a personal connection to the Boardwalk Boutique Hotel team.
Many employees have family members and friends living in Venezuela and Colombia, making the impact of the recent disasters particularly meaningful for staff members in Aruba.
The hotel described the auction as a way to make a contribution and provide assistance to people dealing with the consequences of the earthquakes.
Boardwalk Continues Support for Local Art
Local art has long been an important part of the identity and guest experience at Boardwalk Boutique Hotel.
The hotel regularly works with Aruban artists and features original artwork throughout its property.
Its artistic initiatives include collaborations in which two related pieces are created. One artwork becomes part of the hotel’s collection, while another can be used to benefit a charitable cause.
Suelyn Dankerlui has participated in the hotel’s local art initiatives, creating works inspired by Aruba’s natural scenery.
The Sunrise and Sunset paintings continue that approach by connecting Aruba’s landscape and creative community with a humanitarian purpose.
Auction Runs Until September 6
The Aruba art auction officially began Friday, August 21, 2026.
Bidding will remain open until Sunday, September 6, giving residents and other interested supporters an opportunity to participate.
At the end of the auction, the highest bidder will receive the Sunset artwork, while the winning contribution will support humanitarian relief.
The initiative combines local creativity, tourism-sector involvement and charitable giving while allowing an original piece inspired by Palm Beach to contribute to communities outside Aruba.
Through the Aruba art auction, Boardwalk Boutique Hotel and Suelyn Dankerlui are using local art to support people in Venezuela and Colombia while highlighting the close family and community connections Aruba maintains with both countries.
