Aruba’s Department of Taxation says motorists can begin paying their 2027 motor vehicle tax now, either in one payment or through optional monthly installments.
The deadline for 2027 vehicle tax payments is February 1, 2027. The statutory date of January 31 falls on a weekend, moving the effective final payment date to the following day.
Rates and license plates remain unchanged
The department says vehicle-tax rates will remain the same as in previous years. Existing taxpayers only need to pay the tax amount because the current blue-and-white license plates remain valid through 2029.
Vehicle owners can check the amount due by signing into the BOi portal and opening the account overview. The department says early payment is intended to give motorists more time to plan their finances.
Monthly installments are optional
The partial-payment service is available to individuals and businesses. Payments must be made monthly and completed by February 1. The minimum monthly amount is Afl. 50 for most plate categories and Afl. 200 for large buses, personalized plates and several commercial categories.
After February 1, taxpayers will no longer be able to pay the first half of the 2027 tax in installments. Vehicles in the MFA, MFV and personalized-plate categories must have the full year’s tax paid by that date.
Department recommends online bill payment
The department recommends using bill payment through Aruba Bank, Banco di Caribe or CMB, saying those payments normally enter its system within one day. Payments from other banks may require at least five working days to appear.
Online payments should include the personal number under which the vehicle is registered, the vehicle number and the payment period. Taxpayers with unpaid 2026 vehicle-tax debt must clear it first; money marked for 2027 will be applied to arrears before the new tax year.
The department warned that late or missing payment can lead to a 50% penalty.
